A Weekend in Comporta
Rice fields, stork nests and forty kilometres of empty beach — a field guide to Portugal’s most understated coastline.
Comporta is less a town than an agreement: build low, build in timber and reed, and leave the dunes alone. The result is a coastline that looks almost exactly as it did in the 1970s.
Start with breakfast at the village café, spend the afternoon at Praia do Pego and end with grilled fish at a table with your feet in the sand.
